Vehicle Strikes Building, Injuring Elderly Woman in Calvert County
PRINCE FREDERICK, MD – An 88-year-old woman was hospitalized Monday morning after a Toyota camry crashed into a building and struck her in the 300-business block of Market Square in Calvert County.The incident is under investigation by the maryland State Police crash Team.
The woman was seated inside the building when the vehicle left its parking space,mounted a curb,and collided with the structure,striking her. She was transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center for treatment. The driver, an 84-year-old man, was uninjured.
Maryland State Police troopers responded to the scene at approximately 10:29 a.m. A preliminary investigation indicates the driver was parked in front of the business when, for reasons currently unknown, the Camry accelerated forward.
