Coface appoints Markus Kuger as Chief Economist for DACH Region
Frankfurt, Germany – November 21, 2024 – Coface, a global trade credit insurance and risk management company, today announced the appointment of Markus Kuger as its new Chief Economist for the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). Kuger assumes the role with immediate affect, bringing extensive expertise in macroeconomic analysis and risk assessment to the company.
This appointment arrives at a critical juncture for businesses operating within the DACH region, as they navigate ongoing economic uncertainties including fluctuating inflation rates, supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical instability.Kuger’s insights will be instrumental in helping Coface’s clients mitigate risk and make informed decisions regarding their trade credit exposures. He will be responsible for forecasting economic trends, assessing country risk, and providing strategic guidance to support Coface’s business development and underwriting activities across the region.
Kuger joins Coface from Euler Hermes, where he served as Senior Economist for Germany and Austria for over eight years. Prior to that, he held positions at the German institute for Economic Research (DIW) and the European Central Bank (ECB). He holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Bonn.
