Henny Huisman: Marco Borsato‘s Career ‘In Ruins’ Amidst Legal Proceedings
Published: November 2,2023
Henny Huisman, the former presenter of the popular Dutch talent show Soundmixshow, has stated that Marco Borsato’s career is “in ruins” following allegations of indecent assault. Huisman made the comments while discussing the case and the show’s legacy.
According to reporting, Huisman initially championed Borsato, who won Soundmixshow in 1990. He stated, “I have been showing off Marco for a long time, he comes from me,” but added, “But that whent wrong all at once.”
Huisman expressed his view on the potential outcome of the legal proceedings, stating, “In any case, I think he has already been punished enormously. His career is in ruins.”
The discussion also touched upon the case of Glennis Grace, another artist who gained prominence through Soundmixshow. Grace was sentenced to 200 hours of community service in 2022 for public violence following an incident in an Amsterdam supermarket.
“Sometimes people say to me: can’t you talk to them, as if I can keep them on the right path? But I am not Marco Borsato’s father.”

Huisman firmly dismissed any suggestion that he has a responsibility to intervene in the personal lives of the artists he helped launch, emphasizing his lack of paternal role.
Soundmixshow, hosted by Huisman from 1985 to 2002, served as a launching pad for numerous successful Dutch musicians, including Gerard Joling, Edsilia Rombley, Helmut Lotti, and Tino Martin, in addition to Borsato and Grace.
