Manchester United Women Poised for Champions League Push in 2025-26 Season
Stockholm, Sweden – Manchester United Women are entering the 2025-26 Women’s Super League season with momentum, having recently secured progression through the Champions League second qualifying phase with victories over PSV. The team’s strong summer form, coupled with emerging talent and strategic initiatives too boost fan engagement, positions them as strong contenders this year.
United bolstered their squad in August 2024 with the signing of left-back Anna Sandberg from Häcken. After a period of acclimation last season, Sandberg is now expected to challenge for a regular frist-team spot, having started both Champions League qualifying matches in august, contributing to clean sheets. She impressed with her crossing ability and impactful runs, notably against PSV, and continues to develop her game.
The club also benefited from a successful summer for several key players. England trio Ella Toone, Grace Clinton, and Maya Le Tissier enjoyed a memorable experience with the Lionesses, while Norway striker Elisabeth Terland spearheaded United’s Champions league qualification campaign, scoring four goals in two games. Toone further contributed with two assists for Terland’s hat-trick against PSV.
Manchester United will play two matches at Old Trafford this season – against Aston Villa in November and Manchester City in March – with Leigh Sports Village remaining their primary home ground. To foster a more vibrant atmosphere, the Manchester United Women’s official supporters club has launched a songbook, available on their website, encouraging fans to participate with chants tailored to players like goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce and defender Jayde Riviere.
