Man United Eye Sesko Move: Leipzig Interest and Watkins Alternative

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Manchester United’s striker search continues with Benjamin Sesko a primary target, according to sources.

The Red Devils have been actively pursuing attacking reinforcements, with Sesko, the 21-year-old RB Leipzig forward, emerging as a key option. United have also previously expressed interest in Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa. However, Villa has indicated that the England international is not available for transfer this summer, despite being considered a potentially more affordable option and a proven Premier League performer.

Sesko has demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess at Leipzig, netting 39 goals in 87 appearances since his 2023 arrival from Red Bull Salzburg. His Bundesliga record stands at 27 goals across his two seasons in the German top flight.

The potential acquisition of another young striker could impact the future of current Manchester United forward Rasmus Højlund. The Danish international, who joined from Atalanta in 2023, has faced challenges in finding consistent goal-scoring form. This summer has seen reported interest in Højlund from Italian clubs Napoli and Juventus.
