Man Arrested for Allegedly Using Stolen Credit Card at Brentwood Police Department
BRENTWOOD, Calif. – A 36-year-old man was arrested Friday after allegedly attempting to pay towing fees with a stolen credit card at the Brentwood Police Department, authorities said. The incident unfolded around 11:30 a.m. in the department’s lobby,leading to the suspect’s immediate arrest and the discovery of additional contraband.
The suspect, identified as Lew, allegedly presented a credit card that did not belong to him while attempting to settle towing costs. Police were alerted and quickly apprehended him. A subsequent search revealed he was also in possession of drugs and burglary tools, according to the Brentwood Police Department.
Lew was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, and is now being held at the West County Detention Facility in Richmond on $20,000 bail. He faces felony petty theft charges due to prior convictions,alongside misdemeanor charges of fraudulent use of a credit card,drug possession,and possession of burglary tools.
The incident highlights the potential for brazen criminal activity even within law enforcement facilities and underscores the ongoing efforts to combat financial crimes and related offenses in the region. The case remains under investigation.
