Man Pleads Guilty to Second-Degree Murder in Asheville-Area Death
BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. – Javorie Ammon Thompson, 27, entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder on Friday, September 5th, in connection with the death of 22-year-old Jeruan Spencer, the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Spencer’s body was found in a wooded area near candler, North Carolina, in August 2023. The finding initiated a homicide investigation by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO).
Initial evidence recovered from the Candler site suggested the crime occurred elsewhere. Through diligent investigation, including witness testimonies and forensic analysis, authorities resolute Spencer was shot inside a vehicle on Haywood Road in West Asheville. His remains were then transported to and abandoned in the wooded area near Candler.
thompson was arrested and charged with murder following a traffic stop in August 2023. He now faces a sentence of up to 15 years – 143 to 184 months – in a North Carolina prison, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
