Man Pleads‌ Guilty to ‍Second-Degree Murder in Asheville-Area Death

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. – Javorie Ammon Thompson, 27, ⁢entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder on Friday, September 5th, in connection with the ‌death of 22-year-old‌ Jeruan Spencer, the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Spencer’s body was found⁢ in a ⁢wooded area near candler, North ‌Carolina, in August 2023. The finding initiated a homicide investigation by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO).

Initial evidence recovered from the Candler site suggested the⁣ crime occurred‌ elsewhere. Through diligent investigation, including witness testimonies and forensic analysis,⁢ authorities resolute‍ Spencer was shot​ inside a vehicle on Haywood Road in West Asheville. His remains were then transported to and abandoned in the wooded area near Candler.

thompson was arrested and charged with murder following a traffic stop in August⁤ 2023. ‍ He now ⁣faces a sentence of up‍ to 15 years – 143 to 184 months – in a North Carolina prison, according ​to the District Attorney’s Office.
