Man Arrested on Suspicion of Firearm Possession in Salford
Salford,Greater Manchester – A man is in police custody after officers executed a warrant at an address in Salford following intelligence regarding a potential firearm and ammunition. Greater Manchester police (GMP) confirmed the arrest took place earlier this afternoon.
Officers from the Salford division arrested the male on suspicion of possession of a firearm. A scene remains in place while investigations continue.
Detective Inspector Michael Jimenez, from GMP’s Salford division, stated: “Earlier this afternoon, we executed a warrant at an address in Salford following intelligence received regarding the potential presence of a firearm and ammunition. The operation was carried out swiftly and safely, and at this stage, the examination remains in its early phases with a scene still in place.”
DI Jimenez continued to reassure the public, stating: “We understand that incidents of this nature can cause concern, but we want to reassure the public that there is no wider risk or threat to the community. Our officers acted on credible intelligence and took decisive action to ensure public safety.”
GMP confirmed the incident is not related to the terrorism incident which occurred on Thursday, October 2, 2025, outside a synagogue on Middleton Road in Crumpsall.
“Here at GMP, we remain committed to tackling gun crime and removing dangerous weapons from our streets,” added DI Jimenez. “we will continue to work closely with local partners and residents to ensure Salford remains a safe place to live and work.”
Extra patrol officers have been deployed in the local area, both on foot and in patrol cars, to provide reassurance to residents.
