The Los Angeles Galaxy began their 2026 Major League Soccer campaign with a 1-0 victory over New York City FC on Monday, February 23rd, according to results reported by kicker.de. The match, presented by Continental Tire on Sunday Night Soccer, marked the Galaxy’s home opener.

The result comes as the LA Galaxy technical staff completed a roster refresh over the winter, preparing for the new season. Elsewhere in the league, several other matches were completed over the weekend. St. Louis City SC and Charlotte FC drew 1-1 on Saturday, although FC Cincinnati defeated Atlanta United FC 2-0. Sunday’s matches saw DC United beat Philadelphia Union 1-0, Orlando City fall to New York Red Bulls 1-2 and Vancouver Whitecaps overcome Real Salt Lake 1-0. Austin FC and Minnesota United played to a 2-2 draw, and FC Dallas defeated Toronto FC 3-2. Houston Dynamo FC won against Chicago Fire FC 2-1, Nashville SC triumphed over New England Revolution 4-1, and Los Angeles FC secured a 3-0 win against Inter Miami. Portland Timbers beat Columbus Crew 3-2, San Diego FC defeated CF Montreal 5-0, and San Jose Earthquakes won against Sporting Kansas City 3-0.

Notably, the New York Red Bulls made history this season by becoming the first team in MLS history to start three players aged 17 or younger in a regular season match, as reported by Major League Soccer’s X account.
