Magee Memorial Cross Country Meet Returns in 2025, Emphasizing Team Placement Over Individual Time
Denville, NJ – The annual Magee Memorial class Meet will be held in 2025, offering a unique scoring system that prioritizes team performance over individual race times for Sophomore, Junior, and Senior divisions. The meet, directed by Bob Byrnes, is scheduled for a series of races beginning at 9:00 AM.
This invitational is a key early-season competition for New Jersey high school cross country teams. Unlike standard meets, the overall winners are resolute by the combined placement of a team’s top three runners in the Sophomore, Junior, and Senior races-meaning strategic pack running and consistent finishing are paramount. The Freshman race will follow customary five-person scoring. Teams will compete for a trophy awarded to the winning squads.
The course itself is a single loop designed without pavement, providing a challenging but natural terrain for runners. Participants are required to bring four pins to secure sensor bibs, which will be utilized for timing and results.
