$1 Million Yacht Sinks Minutes After Launch in Turkey
Zonguldak, Turkey – A newly built luxury yacht worth nearly $1 million USD (approximately NT$30.53 million) capsized just 15 minutes into its maiden voyage off the coast of Zonguldak, Turkey, on September 2, 2025. the yacht, named “Dolce Vento,” was constructed by the Medyılmaz shipyard in 2024.
video footage circulating online shows the vessel slowly tilting and eventually sinking into the water, reaching a depth of 7 meters. The owner, captain, and two crew members were onboard at the time and were forced to jump into the sea to escape.
All four individuals were rescued by workers from nearby shipyards and reported to be unharmed.The cause of the incident, described as a “stability problem,” is currently under investigation. Social media users have reacted to the event with comments referencing the owner’s misfortune and joking about the incident.
The “Dolce Vento” had just launched its first voyage when the incident occurred. Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the factors that led to the yacht’s rapid sinking.
