Loyola Men’s Soccer Standouts Earn Atlantic 10 Honors
CHICAGO – Loyola University Chicago men’s soccer players Antonio Pinto and Ben Bischof have been lauded by the Atlantic 10 Conference for their exceptional play during the 2023 season. Pinto was selected for the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team,while Bischof earned recognition on the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.
The accolades highlight Loyola’s prosperous transition into the Atlantic 10 Conference and demonstrate the program’s commitment to both athletic and academic excellence. Pinto’s immediate offensive impact and Bischof’s consistent performance and dedication to his studies exemplify the well-rounded student-athletes fostered by the University. These awards signal a promising future for Loyola men’s soccer within its new conference home.
Pinto quickly established himself as a key offensive threat for the Ramblers, finding the back of the net in four of his frist seven collegiate games against Oakland, Northwestern, DePaul, and UIC. He registered a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Holy cross (Ind.) on Sept. 30, and also contributed assists in victories at Rhode Island on Sept.20 and against Saint Louis on Oct. 25. the Park Ridge,Ill.,native finished the season as Loyola’s leading scorer with five goals and 13 points in 16 matches,averaging 0.81 points per game. Pinto was also recognized nationally, being named the No. 56 freshman in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer.
Bischof, a team captain, played a vital role in the midfield, logging 1,137 minutes across 15 appearances. He scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory at SIUE on Sept. 11, and totaled one goal and two points on 15 shots, placing five on target. The Eltville, Germany, native maintains a remarkable 3.99 GPA while pursuing a degree in economics, showcasing his commitment to academic achievement.
