Hanover Shooting leaves One Dead,Eyewitness describes “Tense” and “Sad” Scene
Hanover,Lower Saxony – A shooting in Hanover Wednesday evening following an argument has left one man dead and several injured,prompting a large police response. An eyewitness, identifying himself only as “Cini,” recounted the harrowing events too News5, describing a rapidly escalating situation and its devastating aftermath.
Cini was walking nearby when he observed a heated verbal dispute between two men. “I was just on the way from my mother to my colleague. And then we just saw two guys arguing very loudly and verbally. And then they both ran out and then you heard these six shots,” he stated.
The witness instantly rushed to assist the victim,who had fallen to the ground. “Then we went straight there after the person who shot had run away. We didn’t pay any attention to the othre person in the situation, but rather concentrated on stopping the injured person’s bleeding and simultaneously occurring, of course, alerting the rescue workers.”
Despite their efforts, and the subsequent arrival of emergency services, the victim – estimated to be between 27 and 30 years old – succumbed to his injuries. “By the time the rescue workers got there,this gentleman…had lost so much blood that the arrival of the emergency doctor was already too late in the situation,” Cini explained. “The gentleman had already died by then.” A tent was erected by emergency personnel at the scene.
The situation was further compounded by the arrival of the victim’s family.”The bad thing about it is that you also saw afterwards how his children came out of that car with their mother, who was also very upset,” Cini reported.
Hours after witnessing the shooting, Cini remained visibly shaken. He described the atmosphere as “tense” and “sad,” and expressed gratitude for the support provided by police and local pastors. He also shared the deeply unsettling thoughts that plagued him following the incident. “what would have happened if it had been his own father or the father of a friend or something like that? Or the mother, the sister or whoever? Those are the thoughts you had at that moment.” He added,”I’m still shaking a bit myself. That was also an exhausting situation.”
Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
