London Man Charged in Hate-Motivated Assault
LONDON,ON (September 2,2025) – London Police have charged a 35-year-old man following a hate-motivated break-in and assault that occurred August 31,2025.
At approximately 12:35 a.m.on Sunday, a man and a friend were subjected to racially motivated verbal harassment while walking in the area of Capulet Lane and Wonderland Road North. Shortly after arriving home, the victim was confronted by the same suspect, who forcibly entered the residence and continued the racially motivated abuse while physically assaulting the victim.
Police were called to the scene and, while responding, encountered the suspect attempting to re-enter the home. Officers arrested the suspect nearby. the victim sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention.
The incident was promptly classified as a hate crime and transferred to the London Police Service hate Crime unit for investigation.
Jonathan William Butcher, of London, has been charged with break, enter and commit assault. He is scheduled to appear in London court on October 6, 2025.
