The Local started in October 2014 as @EastFallsLocal, a Facebook page for photos & items of interest specific to our neighborhood. In 2019, we changed our name to The Local when we branched out to Germantown & other surrounding NW Philly neighborhoods.In 2021, the Local created UpliftLocal, a non-profit aimed at informing, engaging, and highlighting all neighbors where they are, with gratitude and respect. A printed local news publication is crucial for neighborhoods undergoing the growth & change we're seeing today.
