About

Shirley and Bob Larmore founded the free-distribution Sequim Shopper in January 1974, transforming the publication into a weekly community newspaper, The Jimmy Come Lately Gazette, in July of that year. Sale of the paper and a 1990 redesign brought a change in the masthead to the Sequim Gazette.Today the newspaper has a strong reputation across the state, earning Washington Newspaper Publisher’s Association General Excellence awards from 2005-2008 and 2010. The Sequim community is home to the Lavender Weekend, the largest lavender festival in North America, and to the Irrigation Festival, the longest-running community festival in Washington state.
