Linda Marcovich reports roof collapse at home after Santiago rains
“Hasta que se cayó el techo,” wrote Linda Marcovich, a former contestant on the second season of the reality television program Gran Hermano, after heavy rains and an adverse weather system in the Santiago capital region caused the structure of one of her home’s rooms to collapse completely.
Destruction in Santiago Following Severe Weather
The intense precipitation and subsequent mudslides impacting the Metropolitan Region of Santiago caused significant structural failures in residential areas, including the collapse at Marcovich’s home. According to 24horas, the former reality participant shared footage on social media documenting the heavy damage inside her residence. The roof of a room caved in entirely, leaving only the exposed wooden vigas behind. The force of the collapse also broke a center table situated on the ground floor of the property.

Despite the extent of the material destruction, Marcovich confirmed that no one in her household was underneath the structure when it gave way. “No dormí nada anoche; como les mostré en el video, se me cayó el techo.”
Disputes Over Recent Home Remodeling Work
Following the incident, Marcovich directed sharp criticism toward the construction workers who had recently performed renovations on her property. En Cancha reported that the influencer questioned the quality of the recent building works, which had purportedly been carried out to prepare the house for seasonal weather conditions. According to her statements, workers had completed a full overhaul of the first floor and replaced the entire roof covering on the second level, yet water still infiltrated the structure.
“Gracias a Dios tenemos buenos amigos que nos mandaron unos maestros en la mañana, así que ya fue a comprar. Ahora me río, pero qué chantas que son los maestros, no todos, obviamente, pero los que vinieron aquí, chantas,” Marcovich expressed, adding that individuals who perform substandard work ultimately compromise their own professional futures.
Media Coverage and Public Reaction Across Outlets
Different regional media outlets highlighted various dimensions of the influencer’s ordeal following the capital’s severe weather events. La Hora emphasized the timing of the incident during an unusually cloudy and rainy spring period in Chile, noting that the localized damage occurred amidst broader weather alerts across Santiago neighborhoods such as San Carlos de Apoquindo.
