DAZN has secured the broadcast rights for Spain’s Liga ACB basketball league, ending Movistar Plus‘s long-standing tenure as the primary broadcaster.
The shift in rights marks a significant development in the Spanish sports broadcasting landscape. Movistar Plus, which has aired the Liga ACB sence 2015, losing these rights is a notable setback, especially after its recent renewal of EuroLeague rights earlier in 2025. movistar Plus CEO Daniel Domenjo had previously highlighted the company’s “unmatched content offering” which included major European sports competitions, a statement now tempered by the absence of the Liga ACB.
For DAZN, this acquisition strengthens its position in the Spanish market. The over-the-top (OTT) streaming service already holds rights to prominent Spanish sports, including the top-tier football league, LaLiga. DAZN’s chief executive for Spain and portugal, Oscar Vilda, has expressed optimism about the company’s financial future in the region, projecting profitability either this year or by 2026.
The financial terms of the new deal indicate that DAZN will pay between €14 million and €14.5 million annually for the Liga ACB rights.
