Dreux‘s Bâtes District Poised ‍for ‌Transformation with New School Group and Community Investments

The Bâtes district of Dreux is ‌undergoing significant development, centered around a new school ⁣group expected to⁣ open in February, alongside broader ⁣improvements‍ to infrastructure and‌ social services. Mayor Pierre-frédéric Billet highlighted the ambitious goal of increasing homeownership in the area, aiming for 21% of residents to be owners, a significant rise from the recent 11%.

A key component of the revitalization is improved accessibility. The city‍ purchased a house in November to facilitate the construction of‍ a new‌ road (VN) connecting Bâtes to the Sainte-Ève district via Avenue des Fenots. Further improvements include a 130-space car park near Place d’italie and upgrades ⁣to all public transport platforms ⁢and circulation.

Financing for the educational and socio-cultural center is ⁤a collaborative effort, with the Caisse d’allocations Familiales (CAF) ⁤of Eure-et-Loir contributing over 2 million euros.Mayor Billet‍ described the CAF as a “listening and indispensable” partner, noting their support extends beyond the school group to encompass the future Proximum House social and cultural center, a library, a parent-child reception area, and a ‍crèche with⁣ 60 spaces.

Pascal Gresteau, head of social action at CAF⁢ Eure-et-Loir, expressed positive impressions after a site visit, emphasizing the importance of interior⁤ design details, particularly for young children. He stated the center will address regional needs by providing a crucial⁤ space for socialization, creating ‍a continuum of ⁣support from early childhood through parenthood, and balancing service offerings with those‍ in ⁢the Rochelles and Dunant-Kennedy sectors. CAF will maintain oversight of the project, conducting controls to ensure responsible use of ‍funds and adherence to established objectives.

Beyond education and social services, healthcare access in Bâtes is also ⁤expanding. Following the arrival of Doctor Takieddine Abbad in 2024, the Maison Médicale des Bâtes is set to welcome a new ⁣general⁤ practitioner in January⁣ 2026. Discussions are ongoing ⁢to bring‍ a gynecologist to the ‌facility, and the city is actively encouraging future doctors through a municipal scholarship ⁢program, with several medical students applying for ⁤funding that would require⁢ them to practice in Dreux from 2030.
