Lenovo Navigates Rising Component Costs & Bets on AI PC Growth | New Yoga, Legion & IdeaPad Lineup

March 23, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Lenovo is preparing to adjust pricing on its PC and server lines globally, responding to a surge in the cost of DRAM and 3D NAND flash memory driven by demand from the artificial intelligence sector, the company announced Monday.

The price increases come as the broader electronics industry faces rising component costs, extending beyond RAM, according to a report published in January. The trend echoes the supply chain disruptions experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic between 2020 and 2022, following price adjustments for Raspberry Pi Compute Modules in October 2025 and Raspberry Pi 4/5 models in December.

Despite the challenging market conditions, Lenovo maintained a revenue market share of approximately 25-26% in the notebook segment over the past year, and a unit market share of 24-25%. This was achieved despite some competitors discounting prices by as much as 20% to gain market share, according to Lenovo. The company emphasized its focus on maintaining a balance between volume and profitability.

In the desktop market, Lenovo continues to hold the number one position with a market share of around 12%. However, the overall PC market is expected to contract by 10-15% in April, a steeper decline than the typical 4-5% seasonal dip, due to the escalating component costs.

A key shift is anticipated in the next quarter with the full arrival of “AI PCs,” fueled by fresh CPU generations from both Intel – with its Ultra 300 Series and Lunar Lake – and AMD – with its 400, 300, and 200 Series processors. The proportion of AI PCs is projected to double from 20-25% of the market.

The rising cost of components, particularly RAM, is prompting a potential shift in standard configurations. The previously common configuration of 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD may be replaced by models offering 8GB of RAM and a 256GB or 512GB SSD in more affordable product lines. Laptops designed for easy component upgrades are expected to regain popularity.

Lenovo is responding to the volatility by implementing a dynamic pricing strategy and prioritizing its service offerings. The company is extending standard warranties from one year to two or three years and emphasizing its Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) coverage, which offers unlimited claims.

The company’s latest generation 11 lineup includes updated IdeaPad models – Slim 3, Slim 5, and Slim 5 2-in-1 – with the Slim 5 featuring an enhanced cooling system with a larger fan and dual heat pipes. The Yoga series includes the Yoga Slim 7 Ultra, as well as 2-in-1 convertible models like the Yoga 7/9. Gaming laptops (Legion & LOQ) have been updated with the latest generation CPUs.

The IdeaPad Slim 5 2-in-1 sets a new standard for 2-in-1 devices with upgradeable RAM and SSD storage (featuring two SSD and two RAM slots), a feature rarely found in the market. The device likewise meets MIL-STD 810H durability standards and offers four usage modes: tent, tablet, stand, and laptop, and includes a Gen 2 magnetic stylus.

Pricing for select models begins at 21,999 baht for the IdeaPad Slim 3 Gen 11 (AMD), 23,990 baht for the IdeaPad Slim 3 Gen 11 (Intel), 45,990 baht for the Yoga Slim 7, 49,990 baht for the Yoga 8 2-in-1, 89,990 baht for the Yoga AIO, 49,990 baht for the Legion 5, and 43,990 baht for the LOQ Gen 11.
