Polish Athlete Bukowiecka Finishes Fourth at World Athletics Championships
Budapest, Hungary – Poland‘s Anna Bukowiecka narrowly missed a medal at the World Athletics Championships, finishing fourth in the women’s 400-metre final on September 18, 2025. The athlete clocked a time of 48.82 seconds, a strong performance that fell just short of securing a podium finish.
the result marks a continued rise for Bukowiecka, a star in Poland and a key member of their relay teams. While a medal eluded her in this individual event,the 27-year-old’s consistent success-including Olympic and European Championship titles-highlights Poland’s growing strength in track and field. The race was won by Natalia Kaczmarek of Poland in 48.03 seconds, followed by Jamaican Stephanie Ann McPherson (48.11 seconds) and Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser (48.19 seconds). Bukowiecka holds the Polish national record in the 400m with a time of 48.90 seconds.
Bukowiecka’s accolades include a gold medal in the 4×400-meter mixed relay and a silver medal in the women’s 4×400-meter relay at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. she added to her collection with a bronze medal in the 400m at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and also European Championship gold in Rome in 2024 and World Championship silver in Budapest in 2023.
