A Historic Venue Reimagined

Le normandy,a cinema-theater steeped in history,is set for a grand reopening at the end of 2025. The venue, which onc hosted legendary performers such as Charles Aznavour, Bourvil, Duke Ellington, and Luis Mariano, had fallen into disrepair and was subject to a peril decree. Now, thanks to an enterprising rehabilitation project spearheaded by the Normandy association, it is poised to reclaim its status as a cultural cornerstone.

Concrete pour marks Milestone

The initial phase of reconstruction reached a pivotal moment on March 27 with the pouring of the room’s raft. Cemex France played a crucial role, delivering approximately 225 cubic meters of concrete for this foundational element.

Acoustic innovation at the Forefront

The rehabilitation prioritizes remarkable acoustic performance, essential for the building’s future use as a performance space. An innovative system, featuring two concrete slabs integrated into an insulating mattress comprised of 800 elastomer studs, has been designed to mitigate noise pollution. This advanced design aims to ensure optimal acoustic comfort for future audiences.

This approach reflects a commitment to creating a state-of-the-art venue. The design incorporates advanced materials and techniques to minimize sound transmission and enhance the listening experience. Such measures are increasingly critically important in modern performance spaces, where audiences expect pristine audio quality.

Technical Specifications and Tailored Solutions

To meet the project’s stringent technical demands, Cemex provided 112 cubic meters of concrete to Legendre Construction for the creation of the first slab. Surfabeton, a company specializing in paving works, handled the implementation. A second slab of equal volume is planned for the coming weeks.

Cemex also offered customized solutions, including the use of a concrete pump to streamline implementation.Logistical coordination was managed through a rotation of 14 truck-mixers over a three-hour period, utilizing production units in Le Havre and Saint-Vigor. The company’s expertise in concrete technology and logistics ensured a smooth and efficient process.

Digital Platform Ensures Quality and Timeliness

The order and delivery of ready-to-use concrete were facilitated via the CEMEX GO digital platform. This platform provided real-time monitoring, ensuring adherence to deadlines and consistent quality throughout the process.

Digital platforms like CEMEX GO are becoming increasingly vital in the construction industry. They offer enhanced openness, improved dialog, and greater control over project timelines and material quality. This digital integration reflects a broader trend towards technology-driven efficiency in construction management.
