Lauren Alaina to Headline Concert at Goose Pond | Lifestyle
SCOTTSBORO, Ala. - country music star Lauren Alaina will perform a concert on Saturday, October 11 at Goose Pond Colony resort on Lake Guntersville, culminating a week-long celebration of bass fishing and Southern culture. The concert is the finale of the inaugural Ultimate Angler World Championship.
The Ultimate Angler, hosted by Unified Pros and the State of Alabama, runs from October 5-11 and features a $500,000 first-place payout and over $1 million in total prizes. Open to both professional and amateur anglers, the tournament aims to become an annual event, modeled after the Masters Golf Tournament, according to Susan Carothers, Director of Communications with UAWC. “we hope this event catches on and continues in the years to come,” Carothers said.”We feel this will benefit the area by bringing tourism among other benefits.”
Alaina,a Georgia native with family ties to DeKalb County,was selected as the headliner due to her known advocacy for conservation issues. The platinum-selling artist rose to prominence as a finalist on season 10 of American Idol and has as become a celebrated voice in country music, performing at the White House for president Obama and appearing on American Idol, CMA Fest, Good Morning America, and The Tonight Show. She is a member of the grand Ole Opry and is known for hits including “road Less traveled,” “Getting Over Him,” and “Ladies in the ’90s.”
Goose Pond Colony will host family-kind activities, an outdoor expo, food vendors, and interactive experiences throughout the week.Concert tickets are $15 and available at www.theultimateangler.org.
