Riga, Latvia – The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) of Latvia responded to 47 calls between 6:30 AM on August 21st and 6:30 AM on August 22nd, according to official reports.These incidents encompassed a range of emergencies, from battling active fires to conducting vital rescue operations, alongside​ a concerning number of false alarms.

Fires Reported Across Latvia

A meaningful​ fire broke out this morning at ‍5:23 AM on Kurzemes avenue ​in Riga.‌ Firefighters are currently working to fully extinguish the blaze, which consumed garden ⁤equipment and household items over an area of 70 square ‌meters, and also‌ impacted 100 square meters of the roof of a⁤ single-story reinforced concrete building. The fire was localized by 6:59 AM, ⁤and extinguishing efforts are ongoing.

Later in ‍the day, at ‌7:23 PM, ⁣crews ⁢responded to⁢ a fire in Krimulda Parish, Sigulda County. The incident⁢ involved 2 square⁢ meters of household items burning in the basement of a one-story residential house. Firefighters successfully ⁤rescued ​one individual⁤ from the scene. ‍ Volunteer​ firefighters from⁣ Krimulda ‌and‍ Inčukalns assisted in suppressing the fire, which was fully ‍extinguished by 8:52 ⁤PM.

Rescue Operations and False Alarms

The VUGD also conducted‌ a successful search and rescue operation in Ugale Parish,‌ Ventspils‌ District, at 1:29 PM. A man⁤ became ‍lost in ⁣the forest‍ and​ was unable to find his way out. Firefighters⁤ utilized sound ‌and light signals from⁣ their vehicles to ‍guide the individual to safety by 3:15 PM.

Nine in the evening, the SFRS ​received a call to the price parish of Jelgava ‍district, shortly after halfway in the afternoon on Revolution Street in Tukums, while in the morning to ⁤Iecava parish of Bauska County, where firefighters rescued‌ a total of ⁤three ‌fatal‍ peopel.

The VUGD also responded to ⁢a series ⁣of ‍less severe incidents, including fires ​involving a sauna, a wall, a car, a chair, a pillow, a cushion, a power distribution cabinet, wiring, burned food, a stubble of cereals, ⁤a stack of grass,⁤ and two ⁣instances of waste fires.

Tragically, a fatal road traffic accident occurred‌ in the ‍Latgale region, according to preliminary data gathered by the State⁤ Police. Details⁢ surrounding the accident are ​currently under investigation.
