Lai Chau: 1,500+ Students Promote Hygiene Habits at School Event
More than 1,500 primary school students in Lai Chau province, Vietnam, participated in a series of events from March 16th to 20th, 2026, focused on promoting personal hygiene habits. The initiative, organized by the Lai Chau Provincial Women’s Union in coordination with Samaritan’s Purse and local Women’s Unions, aimed to foster a safe, friendly, and clean school environment.
The program, part of the “School Safety and Hygiene” project’s second phase (2025-2026), was implemented across four primary schools: Nam Hang (including its central school and Nam Cay village branch), Nam Manh (Nam Hang commune), Nam Cha (Muong Mo commune), and Pu Dao (Le Loi commune). Students engaged in a variety of interactive activities, including performing arts, theatrical performances, interactive games, knowledge contests, and spontaneous dances, designed to impart basic hygiene skills and raise awareness about maintaining cleanliness.
Representatives from the Lai Chau Provincial Women’s Union, Samaritan’s Purse, and Women’s Union representatives from the communes of Nam Hang, Muong Mo, and Le Loi, along with cultural officials, teachers, and students, attended the events. Students received gifts during the program, intended to encourage continued learning and positive behavioral changes.
Organizers emphasized the leverage of experiential activities and real-life scenarios to help students easily assimilate knowledge, improve skills, and develop good hygiene habits. The events were described as lively and cheerful, providing opportunities for students to interact, learn, and develop both physically and mentally.
The initiative seeks to effectively communicate personal hygiene practices within schools, aiming to change student awareness and behavior from a young age. The long-term goal is to establish a safe, healthy, and sustainable school environment throughout the locality.
