Lada Iskra Orders Open, Deliveries Delayed
Customers in Russia can now order the new Lada Iskra, but face significant wait times as production ramps up. Orders opened on July 20th, with 700 vehicles already allocated to dealerships, according to reports from 5koleso.ru.
The Iskra, a compact model resembling the larger Lada Vesta, has faced delays due to the withdrawal of Renault from AvtoVAZ following the invasion of Ukraine. Originally slated for release two years ago, the project has been revived with localized production and Chinese technology.Production began in Togliatti, but is currently insufficient to meet demand. A second production line at the former Nissan factory in St. Petersburg is experiencing delays. The Iskra will be available in sedan, estate, and elevated estate body styles. It measures 4.33 meters in length, 1.5 meters in height, and has a 2.6-meter wheelbase. The sedan offers 500 liters of luggage space, while the estate (SW) provides 480 liters.
Power comes from familiar 1.6-liter engines producing 90 or 108 horsepower. The 90 hp engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the 108 hp engine offers a choice of 6-speed manual or CVT automatic transmissions. Fuel consumption is estimated at around 7.5 liters per 100km, with 0-100 km/h acceleration taking approximately 12 seconds.
The vehicle includes modern features such as ESC and an infotainment system with remote access via a mobile application.
