LA Stabbing: Multiple Injured in Downtown Los Angeles Incident
Four people were stabbed during a fight inside a downtown Los Angeles restaurant Sunday evening, police said. Two suspects were taken into custody at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The incident occurred at Zaya Restaurant, located at 7th Street and Olive Street, shortly after 5:30 p.m., LAPD officials stated. Helicopter footage from ABC7 showed a significant first responder presence in the area.
According to police, an argument between multiple people escalated into a physical altercation resulting in the stabbings. Three people were initially reported to have been stabbed with a knife or bottle, with injuries ranging from moderate to minor lacerations to the arms and back. A fourth person was later discovered to have a laceration to the neck, but fled the scene before authorities could assess their condition. Their current status remains unknown.
At least four victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment, police confirmed. The extent of their injuries has not been publicly released.
Zaya Restaurant acknowledged the incident in a statement posted to Instagram, stating the situation was “beyond our control” and expressing gratitude for the “swift response” of their team and local law enforcement.
The Los Angeles Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident. A spokesperson for the department did not provide further details regarding the identities of those taken into custody or the circumstances leading to the altercation.
