La préfète de l’Hérault Chantal Mauchet rencontre des maires
Chantal Mauchet, la préfète de l’Hérault, a rencontré des maires et des représentants du territoire lors d’une visite officielle le lundi 5 octobre 2026.
Institutional Visit Begins in Villeneuvette
The official itinerary opened in Villeneuvette, where Mayor Jean-Pierre Radi and his municipal team presented current infrastructure proposals for the historically preserved village. Prefect Mauchet toured the site alongside Célia Pouget, the sub-prefect of Lodève, and Frédéric Roig, president of the Association of Mayors of Hérault. Gérard Bessière, president of the intercommunality, along with regional councillor Myriam Gairaud, also joined the delegation.
Discussions in Villeneuvette centered on three primary municipal objectives. Officials reviewed plans to transform the former stables building into a municipal workshop equipped with spaces for local artisans and storage boxes for residents. The delegation examined an extensive redevelopment initiative targeting the ruins of the manufacture to host housing, small businesses, craft spaces, and shared community hubs. Water management formed a core part of the talks, highlighting the preservation and enhancement of the village’s historic hydraulic circuits and existing basins.
Technical Inspections and Intercommunal Conference in Clermont-l’Hérault
The institutional day shifted to Clermont-l’Hérault for an inspection of the technical installations at the Clermontais Aquatic Centre. Following the facility tour, state services and local elected officials convened a formal conference of mayors.
During the conference, intercommunal president Gérard Bessière outlined the portrait of the Salagou Cœur d’Hérault territory. The assembled mayors and state representatives debated several critical administrative dossiers. The agenda addressed regional residential and economic attractiveness, the implementation of the Intercommunal Safeguard Plan, long-term management of water resources, territorial planning, cultural and sports policies, and future mobility networks across the district.
