Drug Trafficking Ring Busted in La Guaira, Seven Arrested
La Guaira, Venezuela – A joint operation led by the Scientific, Criminalistic and Forensic Inquiry Corps (Cicpc) resulted in the arrest of seven individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking within La Guaira state on august 10th. The bust yielded over 600 grams of suspected narcotics and uncovered a criminal network known as “Gordo Catire.”
The operation, conducted in the Montesano sector of the Carlos Soublette parish, targets a significant disruption to the local drug trade and underscores ongoing efforts to combat criminal activity in the region. La Guaira,a key port city,has been identified as a transit point for illicit substances,impacting both local communities and national security.
Those detained have been identified as Elvis Yépez, Eduardo González, Carlos castillo, Eduin Yépez, Marinés del Valle mayora, Lisbeth Josefina Slope, and Daniel José Slope Gil. Authorities report the group comprised the core of the “Gordo Catire” gang.
During the raid, police seized 207 packages containing the suspected drug, totaling over 600 grams. Additionally, 1630 Bolivars in cash, 30 white sheets, and four cell phones were confiscated.
The Cicpc is currently pursuing three additional suspects – individuals known by the aliases Gordo Catire,María,and Tatata – who remain at large. The case has been turned over to the Sixth Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry in La Guaira state for further investigation and prosecution.
