At least four people were killed in Kyiv and 27 injured in the surrounding region following a wave of Russian attacks on Sunday, according to officials. Separately, at least 21 people were injured in Zaporizhzhia, regional authorities reported.
The attacks on Kyiv, which targeted residential buildings and infrastructure across five districts, represent a important escalation in recent weeks. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the capital’s military administration, confirmed the fourth fatality after emergency services initially reported three deaths. The strikes underscore Russia‘s continued targeting of civilian areas despite international condemnation, raising concerns about further civilian casualties and the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
According to Tkachenko, fifteen locations in Kyiv sustained damage from the russian attacks, including residential buildings hit by drones. Emergency services recovered the body of a young girl from the rubble of a five-story residential building in the Solomiansky district, where two others also died at a cardiology institute.
Firefighters battled a blaze at a school in the Darnytsky district after it was struck, with images released by emergency services showing flames engulfing the building’s facade. Mykola Kalachnyk, head of the regional military administration, stated that the bombings resulted in 27 injuries across multiple locations in the Kyiv region.
