After a 15-month hiatus during which she welcomed her son Petr, Kvitova, 35, confessed to grappling with doubts about her future in professional tennis. Reaching number two in the world, she questioned whether she would ever return to the international stage.

I didn’t say anything becuase it wasn’t 100%. When I could do somthing finally after pregnancy, I played some tennis and it felt so good. I was laughing. Every shot I hit smoothly, I was like, ‘Wow – it’s still there’.
