A 21-year-old psychology student was found dead inside her home in Koyilandy, Kozhikode district, Kerala, on Tuesday evening, February 25, 2026, according to local reports.
The deceased has been identified as Sreenanda, daughter of Anil Kumar and Lissy of Edakkulam Chalilparambil in Poyilkavu. She was a final-year undergraduate student at Sree Narayana Gurudeva College in Koyilandy. Police initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death, but the cause of death remains unclear.
According to reports, Sreenanda had returned home from college around 5:30 PM on Tuesday. Her parents had asked her to accompany them to a local temple festival, but she declined, stating she wished to remain at home. Her father discovered her body hanging in her room later that evening. She was immediately taken to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities noted the presence of injuries – specifically cuts on Sreenanda’s forehead and chin – which are contributing to the ongoing investigation. An inquest was conducted at the scene by Koyilandy Police, and the body has been moved to the medical college hospital morgue pending a post-mortem examination, after which it will be released to the family.

Police have stated that the investigation is ongoing and have not yet determined the cause of death.
