Kojima Productions & Xbox Reveal New Footage of Horror Title ‘OD’ During 10th Anniversary stream
TOKYO, JAPAN – Hideo Kojima’s studio, Kojima Productions, showcased a new trailer for its in-development horror game, “OD,” during its 10th Anniversary livestream, “Beyond the Strand,” today. The presentation notably featured an appearance by Xbox CEO Phil Spencer, signaling a continued partnership between Kojima Productions and Xbox.
the title, previously rumored as “Overdose” in 2022, is described by Kojima as “a game and at the same time a movie and at the same time a new form of media.” Today’s trailer revealed the game running on Unreal engine 5, a shift from the Decima engine-owned by Sony-previously associated wiht Kojima’s work.
“At Xbox, we empower creators to push boundaries, and that’s exactly the game that OD is,” Spencer stated on stage. Kojima added his intention to “go over the system” of both films and games.
The new trailer, available to view on YouTube, introduces the tagline “For all players and screamers.” Kojima also revealed a focus on the sound of a “knock,” stating, “I am afraid of the ‘knock’ sound, so I wanted to make that very frightening.” He further hinted at a collaboration with Jordan Peele on a component of the “OD” experience, potentially linked to the newly revealed “knock” subtitle.
First surfacing in rumors in 2022, “OD” received a prior 10-minute teaser in 2023 featuring actors Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier reciting an eerie rhyme.
Spencer concluded by reaffirming Xbox’s commitment to bringing Kojima’s vision to life “for all players everywhere.”
