Breaking: Kohler has launched Dekoda, a $599 in-toilet camera designed to analyze waste and provide insights into personal health. The device, unveiled recently, captures images of toilet contents to assess gut health, hydration levels, and perhaps detect blood, according to a report from CNET.
The Dekoda features a rechargeable battery, USB connectivity, and a fingerprint sensor for user identification.Pre-orders are currently being accepted at Kohlerhealth.com, with shipments slated to begin on October 21. Beyond the $599 hardware cost, users will incur an ongoing subscription fee ranging from $70 to $156.
Addressing privacy concerns, Kohler states, “Dekoda’s sensors see down into your toilet and nowhere else,” and emphasizes that data is protected through end-to-end encryption.
Kohler is not alone in this emerging market; the startup Throne also offers a similar toilet-based camera system,as previously covered by TechCrunch.
