North Korea Warns Joint military Drills Could Trigger nuclear Response, Cites “Rogol Nuclear war” Doctrine
PYONGYANG – Kim Yo-jong, a key political figure in North Korea, issued a stern warning today regarding ongoing joint military exercises between the United States, South Korea, and Japan, stating that continued drills could be interpreted as preparations for a “full-scale confrontation” and potentially trigger a nuclear response. The statement, reported by Pressian, references a “Rogol nuclear war” doctrine, indicating a willingness to utilize nuclear weapons in response to perceived threats.
The warning comes as the U.S., South Korea, and Japan conduct ”Freedom Easy,” a joint military practise following the large-scale “Eulji Freedom Shield” exercise in August.North Korea views these exercises as aggressive invasion war practices, posing a “serious challenge to the safety” of the country and destabilizing the region. kim Yo-jong dismissed concerns from “anti-national” elements regarding the drills, asserting that North Korea sees no basis for trusting what it calls a “US-Japan military adventure.”
Kim Yo-jong emphasized that if “the strength of unfriendly forces continues,” North Korea’s response will be “expressed more clearly and intensively.” She further indicated the country intends to advance its nuclear and missile capabilities, specifically mentioning the Hwasong Type 20 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), as a means to remove military risks posed by hostile forces and ensure the security of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
