Kim Min denies fabrication as I Live Alone clips surpass 40 million views
Actor Kim Min’s appearance on the reality television program I Live Alone generated over 40 million views across 11 official clips, sports.khan.co.kr reported on October 7.
MBC YouTube Clips Surpass 40 Million Views
The total view count for the 11 key clips published on MBC’s official YouTube channels surpassed 40,540,000 views by October 7. Among them, a 32-minute segment featuring Kim’s life in an old rural house in Dongducheon, published on the general channel on October 4, reached 5,730,000 views by the morning of October 7. His martial arts training and meat-eating mukbang video recorded 5,610,000 views.
Additional content also drew heavy traffic. A clip titled “A Person Hitting a Sandbag with Home Training,” uploaded to the I Live Alone STUDIO channel on October 3, climbed to 5,440,000 views. Another video capturing the cast members reacting to Kim’s segment reached 5,320,000 views. A pre-release video showing his house for the first time recorded 3,120,000 views, while a firewood meat-eating clip drew 4,790,000 views, a baguette-eating clip gained 1,950,000 views, and a motorcycle reading video reached 1,710,000 views.
During the October 2 broadcast, Kim showcased a lifestyle centered around a dilapidated traditional house in Dongducheon, where he operated a generator for electricity, manually repaired a cracked concrete floor with cement, and practiced woodworking and martial arts. According to Nielsen Korea, the episode recorded a metropolitan household viewership rating of 6.3 percent and a 2054 demographic rating of 3.4 percent, with his hapkido teaching scene peaking at 8.4 percent.
Addressing Manipulation Allegations
Following the broadcast, internet users compared map services and historical road views with the television footage, questioning whether the residence had been intentionally styled for the cameras. Viewers also noted ambiguities regarding the use of a generator despite utility poles and power lines standing near the property.
Kim addressed the skepticism directly on October 6. In a statement to Star Today, he stated that there was absolutely no fabrication, staging, or setup involved in what was shown on the program. He maintained that the property lacked electricity even before he moved in.
