Kid Cudi Issues Cease-and-Desist to Rapper Consequence Amidst drake-Kanye Album Claims
Los Angeles, CA – September 18, 2024 – Kid Cudi has vehemently denied allegations made by rapper Consequence that he interfered with a potential collaborative album between Drake and Kanye West, and further, played a role in west’s 2016 hospitalization. Cudi responded with a strongly worded statement on Instagram Stories Thursday, accompanied by news of legal action.
Consequence initially claimed Cudi actively worked to prevent the Drake and Kanye project from materializing and linked him to West’s subsequent health crisis.Cudi addressed these claims directly, stating, “The other day rapper Consequence made some allegations that were extremely false. The things he said were pretty f-king disturbing.” He emphatically added, “let me be clear: I had nothing to do with Kanye not doing that collab album with Drake. And I damn sure had nothing to do with him being hospitalized and going to the psych ward.”
Cudi further asserted Kanye West operates independently, dismissing the notion he could influence such a important decision. “Kanye gon’ do whatever Kanye wanna do. What I look like being like, ‘Yo, I don’t want you to do this album.’ And him being like, ‘OK.’ Yeah, right, in what universe?”
The rapper revealed his legal team has already served Consequence with a cease-and-desist letter, demanding a retraction of the statements. “we sent a cease-and-desist, told him to take it down and retract his statement … I need to get a retracted statement tomorrow,” Cudi warned. “Saying that is extremely false and if not, you’ll be hearing from my lawyer, period. I’ma hit you in them pockets. That little bit of change you got gonna be mine. Keep f-ing with me, s-t is not a game.”
Consequence has as deleted his original remarks but reposted Cudi’s response to Instagram, adding a sarcastic caption and alluding to possessing evidence to support his initial claims. The rumored joint album between Drake and Kanye West, once tentatively titled Calabasas Is the New Abu Dhabi, was initially teased in 2017 but never released.
