Kerry FC Ousts Two Players Abruptly
Club Cites ‘Values and Principles’ Mismatch
Kerry FC has unexpectedly released goalkeeper Mathyas Randriamamy and defender Shane Maroodza, with one player having joined just five days prior. The club’s statement cited a divergence in values, leading to the swift departures.
Curious Club Statement Fuels Speculation
The First Division club confirmed the players’ exit via a brief message on their official Twitter account, which read, Unfortunately, their values and principles didn’t match the standards of the club.

It is understood the incident prompting the players’ release occurred away from official club activities. This is a stark contrast to the proactive player recruitment strategies seen across many sports organisations, with a recent Deloitte report highlighting that 70% of top clubs now have formal conduct policies for players outside of competition (Deloitte, 2023).
Defender’s Brief Stint Ends After Single Appearance
Shane Maroodza, a 21-year-old Zimbabwe international, featured only once for Kerry FC. His sole outing was during Friday’s 3-0 home loss against UCD, the same day his signing was announced. Manager Colin Healy had previously expressed optimism about Maroodza’s integration, stating, He has been in training with us for the last few weeks and has been really good around the group, and has fit in really well.
Healy added, He comes with some fantastic experience, from his time with Huddersfield and, of course, making his international debut with Zimbabwe. Hopefully, he enjoys his time here in Kerry.
Goalkeeper Arrived Shortly After Season Start
Mathyas Randriamamy joined the club within a week of the season’s commencement in February. He was notably highlighted for his background within the Paris Saint-Germain system, having trained alongside stars such as Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, and Angel Di Maria. His experience also included being a reserve goalkeeper for three Champions League fixtures for the current holders, including a semi-final clash against Manchester City.
