Kentucky Athletics Schedules Saturday LSU Game Amid Forecasts for Rain and Wind

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Saturday’s Kentucky football game against LSU remains scheduled as planned with kickoff set for 7 p.m. ET, UK Athletics reported, while officials continue monitoring incoming weather conditions. Rainy and windy conditions are expected throughout portions of Saturday at Kroger Field, prompting adjustments to stadium operations and game-day logistics.

The Tech TL;DR:

  • UK Athletics confirmed Saturday’s 7 p.m. ET kickoff against LSU remains on schedule despite anticipated rain and wind.
  • The stadium halftime drone show is rescheduled for a future home game due to the weather forecast.
  • Traffic management, parking routes, and shuttle connections have been modified to accommodate simultaneous crowds from the Keeneland Fall Meet.

Weather Impacts on Stadium Operations and Halftime Schedule

To mitigate safety risks posed by anticipated wind and rain, UK Athletics announced that the planned halftime drone show will be rescheduled for a future home game. UK Team Shop locations situated outside Gate 4 and inside Kroger Field along the concourses will offer rain gear, including blue ponchos, while supplies last in support of the game’s Blue-Out theme. While umbrellas remain permitted inside the venue, stadium policy strictly prohibits opening them within the seating area. Attendees are advised to dress for cooler temperatures and secure all tailgating equipment.

Weather conditions may also affect pre-game traditions. The Cat Walk could be moved indoors to Nutter Field House, with additional notifications issued if that change occurs. Fans have been instructed to monitor official Kentucky Athletics media channels for ongoing updates regarding game-day schedules.

Lexington Traffic Peaks During Sold Out Game

With Saturday’s game sold out and the Keeneland Fall Meet running concurrently, traffic volume across Lexington is projected to peak significantly. Permit holders are advised to consult parking maps and adhere strictly to designated routes assigned to their specific lots. Non-permitted and non-game-day traffic should actively avoid the perimeter surrounding Kroger Field and athletic facilities, particularly Alumni Drive and Cooper Drive.

Fans without parking permits can utilize the reserved single-game lot located at the William T. Young Library lots at Woodland and Columbia avenues for $50 per vehicle, or park in Parking Structure 6 at no charge while space permits. Those parking in the newly expanded Parking Structure 7 must enter and exit exclusively via Complex Drive or Sports Center Drive, where traffic personnel will manage incoming and outgoing volume. Cooper Drive will close four hours prior to kickoff, and construction near the UK Medical Campus requires drivers to avoid University Drive entirely.

To assist travelers moving between events, a dedicated Kroger Field-Keeneland shuttle connector will operate for attendees visiting both venues. Verified resale tickets remain available through official ticketing channels for supporters seeking entry to the sold-out matchup.
