Kelli Pinnock Arrested for Transporting 72 Exotic Animals

Kelli Pinnock Arrested for Transporting 72 Exotic Animals

October 26, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Kelli Pinnock, 48, was arrested and charged with five counts of animal cruelty involving non-livestock animals after El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies discovered 72 exotic animals being transported in inhumane conditions across multiple states.

Traffic Stop on Interstate 10 Reveals Transport Violations

The discovery took place around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, when deputies pulled over a vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 near mile marker 48. During the vehicle inspection and subsequent investigation, law enforcement officers found 56 land turtles, two kinkajous, 11 hedgehogs, two guinea pigs, one caracal, and another wild exotic feline.

Authorities reported that several of the animals were confined in containers that were far too small or overcrowded, which limited their movement. Officers also noted accumulations of urine and feces, inadequate ventilation, and a lack of sufficient food and water access.

Federal Authorities Investigate Pinnock for Crossing State Lines

Investigators discovered that Pinnock had crossed multiple state lines while transporting the animals. Deputies also detected potential violations regarding licensing requirements and restrictions tied to a previous animal cruelty arrest in Florida.

Federal wildlife protection authorities were notified to determine if additional violations occurred. The 72 animals were voluntarily surrendered and safely transferred to facilities equipped to provide proper care, with assistance from the El Paso County Animal Welfare Unit.

The animal cruelty is a serious crime that has no place in our community, said Sheriff Oscar Ugarte, noting that animals rely on humans for their safety and well-being.

Pinnock was booked into the El Paso County Downtown Detention Facility with a total bond set at 10,000 dollars. The Sheriff’s Office stated that investigations into animal maltreatment will continue to ensure accountability.
