One foreign policy ⁢success Donald Trump doesn’t often talk about is his part in helping Mark Carney win last year’s Canadian election.The Liberal party was expected to lose badly until Trump threatened to take over⁤ Canada.Carney’s campaign got a boost from‌ a national movement against ⁢US pressure.

As his​ country has also been a target of Trump,⁢ Carney has clearly responded to Trump’s ideas about Greenland. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Canadian prime minister‌ explained the problem ⁣ for countries that have relied on a world system supported by the US.

“The established international order‍ is weakening,” Carney said, leading to a ⁢time of “competition between major powers.” This change requires “medium-sized countries,” like Canada, to form new partnerships, invest in defense, and find new trade relationships.We need to ​build a new international system from the pieces of the one Trump ‍is damaging.
