Kathleen Carey Named As Woman Who Died Following Dublin Balcony Fall
Belmayne Tragedy: Investigation Underway After Dublin Balcony Fall
Kathleen Carey, a woman in her 30s, died at Beaumont Hospital on Wednesday following an unexplained fall from a balcony on Main Street in Belmayne, Dublin 13. An Garda Síochána is treating the incident as a serious assault after the fall occurred on Monday afternoon at approximately 3:00 PM.
Arrest and Legal Status of the Inquiry
A man in his 20s was arrested in central Dublin on Tuesday following the incident, after first coming to Garda attention for an unrelated minor alleged offence. Authorities held him for questioning before releasing him without charge. A file has now been prepared and forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Detectives at Coolock Garda Station are exploring multiple working hypotheses regarding the mechanics of the fall. Investigators are trying to establish whether the victim was assaulted inside an apartment and fell while attempting to escape, or if she was pushed directly from the balcony. Alternatively, officers are also considering whether the fall happened without foul play as a factor, pending the final results of forensic and technical examinations at the scene.
Family Launches Fundraiser After Kathleen Carey Dies
Family members launched an online fundraiser to help cover funeral costs and support Ms Carey’s daughter, noting that the tragedy struck the family just weeks after they buried her sister, Natasha, a mother of five. Relatives described Kathleen Carey in the fundraising appeal as a “kind, loving, funny person who was full of life” with a “quirky side” that always brought a smile to others.
The National Women’s Council issued a public statement following her death, pointing out that Ms Carey is the 14th woman to die in violent circumstances on the island of Ireland this year. The organisation reiterated calls for an immediate end to violence against women and urged that protecting their safety remain a top societal priority.

Garda Appeals and Next Steps
