Justin Timberlake DWI Arrest: Police Video Released 2024
Sag Harbor, NY – Body camera footage from the June 18, 2024, arrest of Justin Timberlake on suspicion of driving while intoxicated has been released after a legal battle to suppress its publication, according to reports from USA Today and the Associated Press. The footage, released Friday by the Sag Harbor Police Department, shows a visibly unsteady Timberlake being questioned and subjected to field sobriety tests.
The release follows Timberlake’s guilty plea in September 2024 to a lesser charge of driving while ability impaired. He was fined and sentenced to between 25 and 40 hours of community service, to be completed at a nonprofit organization of his choosing. The initial arrest occurred in the Hamptons, a wealthy area of Long Island, New York, after officers observed him allegedly driving erratically.
The body camera video depicts Timberlake telling officers he was simply following friends back to his house. He also stated he was driving a rental car. The footage shows Timberlake struggling with the standardized field sobriety tests, including attempts to stand on one leg and walk a straight line. “These are, like, hard tests,” he is heard saying to the officers, later adding, “My heart’s racing” and “I’m a little nervous.”
According to the Associated Press, Timberlake asked officers, “Why are you arresting me?” after being placed in the back of a police vehicle. A woman, identified as a friend, is also captured on video pleading with officers not to arrest Timberlake, offering to drive him home instead. Police declined her offer.
The incident gained further attention when a comment Timberlake made referencing his “Forget Tomorrow World Tour” during the arrest was captured in initial video released by TMZ in 2024. When an officer inquired about the tour, Timberlake responded, “The world tour.”
Representatives for Timberlake have been contacted for comment, USA Today reported. The Sag Harbor Police Department shared a nearly eight-hour video of the incident, following an agreement with Timberlake’s legal team to release a redacted version of the footage.
