José Peláez, host of the popular television show El gran chef famosos, has addressed the recent controversy surrounding comments made by chef Giacomo Bocchio. Bocchio,on his YouTube channel,stated that “a leader cannot be fat,” a remark that sparked meaningful backlash on social media adn prompted the chef to issue a public apology.
Peláez,speaking in an interview with Activa TV,acknowledged Bocchio’s statements and his subsequent apology. “Those comments are his comments. Everyone has to take care of what he says. I have understood, I have seen that in the last comments he made, because he apologized, with which, it is a issue resolved,” Peláez commented.
Moving beyond the specific remarks, Peláez offered his personal viewpoint on the matter. “I, for my part, I am a person who likes sport. I think sport gives you critically important values for life, but I don’t consider it decisive either. I don’t think a person who does not practice sports cannot achieve certain things,” he stated, suggesting a broader view on personal capabilities.

peláez also touched upon Bocchio’s exit from El gran chef famosos, an event that fueled speculation, especially given reports that Bocchio’s departure was communicated via video call and following reported differences with fellow jury member javier Masías.
“It would be a bit petty of me not to recognize Giacomo’s work. I think he has contributed a lot to the program,” Peláez said, emphasizing Bocchio’s positive impact on the show.
When asked about their current relationship, Peláez confirmed that their interactions remain amicable. “During the time Giacomo was in the program, we always had a very cordial relationship, and that relationship remains like this. We have not talked again, but on my part there is cordiality.If I saw it, I would greet him with the same appreciation and respect of always,” he concluded, underscoring a continued respect for his former colleague.
