Rabies Vaccination Mandate
Turner notes the state law regarding rabies vaccinations: Unless individuals present the pet’s current rabies certificate, then, by state law, it must receive a rabies shot if it’s over 12 weeks of age.
Community Impact
The importance of these vaccinations extends beyond individual pets. The vaccinations are critically important, not only for the animal and the owner, but also the community,
turner stated.Keeping animals vaccinated, especially for rabies, can stop the spread of communicable diseases, like rabies or parvo or panleukopenia [also known as feline distemper] in cats. So,it serves three purposes; it keeps the dog (or cat) healthy, keeps the owners where they can afford to get vaccinations, and keeps the community much, much safer. Everybody can afford $10.
