Jon Stewart Slams Trump’s ‘Bulls—t’ Iran Negotiation Claims
Donald Trump’s claims of ongoing “constructive conversations” with Iran have been met with skepticism, including a sharp rebuke from comedian Jon Stewart, who dismissed the president’s assertions as “bulls–t” during Monday’s broadcast of “The Daily Show.” The criticism followed Trump’s statements regarding alleged talks with a “top person” in Iran, a claim Iranian officials have denied.
Stewart initially expressed a willingness to grant Trump the benefit of the doubt, but quickly pivoted after the program aired footage of the president’s ambiguous remarks. Trump described speaking with someone “that seem[ed] to be running” Iran, prompting Stewart to question the specificity of the discussions. “A top person or the top person?” Stewart asked. “The article really makes a huge difference here, like the guy or some f–king guy.”
The situation became further complicated when Trump revealed that the conversations were not directly with him, but rather conducted by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. “So you didn’t even talk to them? Your guys, who, quite frankly, don’t seem like top guys, talked to their seemingly somewhat top guy?” Stewart questioned.
Stewart also challenged Trump’s assertion of a 15-point agreement with Iran, noting that the first three points reportedly consisted of the same statement repeated. According to Stewart, this pattern underscored a broader pattern of deception. “Donald Trump is without a doubt one of the most prodigious liars this country has ever produced,” Stewart stated. “He’s our supreme misleader.”
The comedian’s criticism extended to Trump’s conflicting statements regarding the ongoing conflict with Iran, including the claim that the U.S. Had “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capability. Stewart characterized these statements as “so unbelievably annoying,” expressing frustration with what he perceived as a dismissive approach to matters of national importance. He contrasted the situation in the Middle East with domestic issues, noting that American infrastructure is deteriorating without the require for external conflict.
The exchange follows a period of heightened tensions between the U.S. And Iran, initiated by U.S. And Israeli military strikes against Iranian targets earlier this month. According to reports, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, was killed in the strikes. The Guardian reported that late-night hosts reacted to Trump’s lack of justification for the military actions.
As of March 24, 2026, the status of any formal negotiations between the U.S. And Iran remains unclear. Iran has not publicly confirmed any discussions with intermediaries and the Trump administration has not provided further details regarding the alleged talks or the purported 15-point agreement.
