Joe Rogan and Spotify agree to multi-year contract extension
Joe Rogan and Spotify have agreed to a multi-year contract extension, continuing a partnership that initially brought his massive podcast library exclusively to the streaming platform from 2020 through 2024. The Wall Street Journal reported that while the financial terms were not officially disclosed by the parties, the earnout could reach $250 million.
Joe Rogan Experience Grows Audience and Political Influence
The new agreement maintains broad distribution for The Joe Rogan Experience, which launched in 2009. Over more than 2,500 episodes, the program has featured extensive two- to three-hour interviews with actors, comedians, athletes, politicians, and authors. By 2025, the show held the top ranking for podcasts on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts. Since moving to Spotify in 2020, the podcast has accumulated 18 million followers, establishing it as the platform’s most followed show.
The show’s expanding reach has coincided with heightened political influence. Rogan’s interview with Donald Trump prior to the 2024 election provided a notable late-campaign boost, while opponent Kamala Harris’s decision not to travel to Rogan’s Austin, Texas studio drew significant post-election scrutiny regarding campaign strategy. Although Rogan has recently voiced skepticism regarding Trump on certain matters, many of his positions continue to align with the MAGA base.
Spotify Maintains Partnership Despite Past Friction with Neil Young
The relationship between Rogan and Spotify has previously weathered high-profile friction. In 2022, musician Neil Young removed his catalog from Spotify in protest of alleged misinformation regarding vaccination discussed on the podcast. Spotify maintained its support for Rogan, and Young eventually restored his music to the platform two years later.

Addressing the contract continuation, Rogan described the partnership in a statement as an amazing fit, adding that he was extremely happy and excited to continue with them for years to come. Jordan Newman, head of content partnerships at Spotify, noted that Rogan has built something incredibly enduring, and his show continues to resonate with a massive global audience because there is simply nothing else like it.
