JFL Shorts & Pilots Program Winners: Rising Comedy Talent Recognized

Los Angeles, CA – November 8, 2024 – The New Filmmakers LA (NFMLA) festival announced its winners following screenings held at the Landmark Theatres in Los Angeles throughout October. The festival showcased a diverse range of short films and pilots, highlighting emerging talent in the autonomous film community.

About the Winners

Better People: rory Kramer, a Chilean-American writer and director, received recognition for his work. KramerS credits include Emmy-winning campaigns for brands like Nike and Apple, and narrative projects screened at festivals including Sundance and Tribeca. He is represented by WME.

This Blows: Molly Clark, a New York-based LGBTQ+ comedic writer and actor, saw her feature film optioned by Blumhouse Productions in September 2024. Clark’s previous work includes writing for the Upright Citizens Brigade.

Bulldozer: Joanna Leeds, a Harvard University alumna, has appeared in television series such as “Law & Order: SVU,” while Andrew leeds has contributed as a writer and actor to shows on networks including NBC and CBS. Andrew Leeds is known for his role in “Fargo.”

the Take: Glenn Boozan and Joanna Bradley,both seasoned television comedy writers,have penned scripts for shows like “Modern Family” and “Parks and Recreation.” They are currently developing a new series for Hulu.
