Jets Coach Aaron Glenn Vows Fans Will Eventually have a Team to Be Proud Of Amidst Roster Shakeup

FLORHAM PARK, NJ – ⁤Despite a challenging 1-7 start to the season and recent significant ‌trades, New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn reaffirmed his commitment to building a team‍ that fans can be proud of. The ⁤Jets traded cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams on Tuesday for packages including ‌three first-round ‍picks, signaling a shift towards rebuilding the roster.

The⁢ trades, described by General Manager Darren Mougey as offers “too good to pass up,” occurred after a ‍season that already pointed towards ⁢extending the team’s playoff drought to 15 seasons. Glenn acknowledged⁣ Wednesday’s atmosphere at the facility was “intense,” but emphasized the reality of player movement in the NFL.

“I ‌want this to be a team that the fans are proud of,” Glenn stated‌ during ‍his press ‌conference.”But again, I’ve never said ⁣that we’re going to be proud of them right now. At some ⁣point, I want this to ⁢be ‌a team that‍ the fans are proud of.⁣ I still stick with⁢ that.I will⁣ still⁤ say that. This is a team that the fans will be proud of.”

Glenn⁣ addressed concerns from fans who may feel ‍the team is ⁢further from contention following the departures of‌ key players. He urged continued support, stating, “Don’t let go⁤ of the rope…just continue to watch us⁤ work.” he declined⁤ to address ⁤timelines for improvement, focusing rather on the team’s ⁢ongoing efforts.

The‍ Jets will face ⁤the Cleveland Browns on ‌Sunday, but observers anticipate much of the focus ‌will be ‌on the team’s long-term trajectory rather than the immediate ‍matchup. Glenn’s message underscores the organization’s commitment to⁤ a future where the ‌Jets can consistently compete and provide fans with a winning product.
