Jeremstar Released: Protest, Summons, and Call to Abolish Bullfighting

Jeremstar ⁣Released⁢ After Arrest at ⁢Bullfight, ‌Faces⁢ Court Summons

Nîmes, France ⁢ – Influencer Jeremstar was released ⁢Sunday afternoon ‍after spending two nights in police custody following a protest at a ‍bullfight in Nîmes (Gard). He was arrested friday evening for disrupting the event by displaying a white fabric bearing the message “FXCK La Run.” The Nîmes prosecutor’s ‌office confirmed his release ⁤to AFP.

Despite his release, Jeremstar’s⁣ legal issues⁢ are not resolved. He​ and two other⁢ protesters‌ have received summonses from judicial police and a direct convocation to⁣ appear before ‌the court in the coming ​weeks‍ to ‍answer for their actions. The charge is⁢ “Intrusion in a ‌sports enclosure disturbing the progress of the competition.”

The protest quickly gained traction on social media, drawing⁢ praise from animal rights organizations like PETA ⁢and the Animal League, and also comedian Rémi Gaillard.⁤ Jeremstar himself reaffirmed his commitment to the cause, stating, “As trying ​as the conditions of police custody are, they are nothing compared ‌to what the ⁣bulls‍ undergo.And​ if I​ had to spend two ⁣nights ‌in ⁤a cell to fight for them,I did it gladly.”

Jeremstar, ‍whose real name is Jérémy Gisclon, used his ⁤Instagram ⁣account‌ while in custody to ⁢condemn bullfighting as “animal torture,” calling ​for⁢ its abolition.‍ “It is not art but animal torture.‌ This despicable tradition must ‍be abolished. I⁤ do not understand how this shameful show is still possible in⁢ 2025,” he wrote. Bullfights remain ‌a tradition in the French regions of New ‌Aquitaine,​ Paca, ⁢and​ Occitanie.
